Guidelines for oral presentations
- Congress computers will run on Windows 11 and can access all previous PowerPoint version files: (Preferred 16:9).
- The recommended software to be used during a Presentation is Microsoft Office PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx).
- Available equipment includes Laptop, Projector, and Wireless Pointer.
- Images in the file should be “.jpg” or “.png” format (1024 x768 pixels with a 72 PPI resolution)
- If videos (only embedded to the Presentation) are to be projected, the Congress Technical Secretariat should be informed the latest during presentation deliver.
- Mac users are requested to test beforehand that the slides run on a Windows version of PowerPoint.
- The projector at the venue will only support HDMI input. Presenters who wish to use their own laptop should check if it is equipped with a VGA or HDMI outlet. If the laptop does not support VGA or HDMI outlet (e.g., Mac), presenters are required to bring their own VGA adapter cable.
- The ppt presentation should be uploaded here: 5th HydroMediT 2024 entitled with the name of the Presenter (e.g. LastName_FirstName), the latest by 16 May 2024.
Guidelines for Preparation of e-Poster Presentations
These guidelines refer to the e-Posters that shall be mount digitally through appropriate monitors at the congress center. The guidelines for the text of e-Poster’s submitted for review and – after acceptance – inclusion at the proceedings are the same with those for Oral paper.
e-Poster presentation – Size and materials
The orientation of the poster must be portrait and the preferable poster dimensions to be set in the file format must be from [60cm width x 90cm height] to [90cm width x 120cm height] (see Fig.).
The e-Poster must be provided to the Congress Secretariat before, or maximum, at the opening of the Congress, in a digital form, preferably in a pdf or a jpg file format (ready to be displayed in the monitors), with file name the name of the presenting author.
Posters should be presented in English. Bilingual abstracts in English and Greek or any other EU language are encouraged.
Posters should be legible from a distance of 1 to 2m. Charts, drawings, and illustrations might well be similar to those used in making slides, but preferably larger and more heavily drawn. Typewritten texts should be kept to a minimum, made with very large characters (at least 0.5cm high). Illustrative material should be visually attractive.
The title of the poster (same as that provided for the “Proceedings”) should be in letters at least 2cm high. For legibility limited use of full caps in title is recommended (e.g. Processing is an Art, rather than PROCESSING IS AN ART). The names of the authors and the address should be given in letters at least 1cm high. The Poster header should include the following data: Title, Author Names, Affiliation, Institution Address, Authors’ email.
Since a Poster is a visual presentation of information, we encourage you to keep text to a minimum and rely on clear graphs, charts, tables and relevant pictures to communicate information. Text should focus on the main points of the information and findings you want to convey. Your poster should not be a just copy of your paper.
Organise the poster in logical sections using simple, but prominent headings such as: Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion & Conclusions, etc. A section on applicability to the industry should be included where possible. If appropriate, some useful complementary information (key references, links) can be included.
Use clear, simple and appropriate graphics to break up the text. Ensure sections are labelled (or numbered) and appear in a clear order. The use of colour, photographs and three-dimensional arrangements (attached to the poster) can make your display more attractive! Remember that colour contrast is important, but use colour sensibly: avoid clashing colours or too bright colours as these detract from significance.
To stimulate interaction the organizers encourage the use of a passport-size photo of the presenting author to be fixed on the right hand side of the poster (see Fig.).
